Pioneer Workers Project:

In East India, there are some who have felt the call of God on their lives, and have chosen to follow this call full-time, with tremendous personal sacrifice. These are our Pioneer Workers. They move with their families to remote areas within the East, where they plant small farms. The income generated is used to send their children to school and feed and clothe their families. Many of these workers live subsistence level lives. Our Pioneer Worker Project helps sponsor a worker and his family for a 2-year period at $100/month. This allows them a respite from worrying about providing for their families and focuses all their energy on God’s call to bring others into the fold and build a fellowship.

Often, these workers travel miles by foot to share the Good News with others in neighbouring and distant communities. Once these fellowships grow to 60 members, we hope to then raise enough funds to build them a Community Hall, as well as construct a ring well for the community. Will you consider sponsoring a Pioneer worker for a two-year period?

Testimony from a Pioneer Worker Arjun S

ARJUN S.

His soul craved true peace, but it wasn’t to be found. He searched for it in his prayers and the practices of his faith, but it eluded him. Arjun wondered if he would ever find it.

Then, the unthinkable happened. 32-year-old Arjun was the victim of a horrifying accident. The doctors pronounced him half dead and he was left paralyzed, never to walk again. In one instant, his life changed forever. His parents did everything within their power to heal their son. They looked to the superstitious practices of their faith, believing that he would be healed, but days and weeks passed, and Arjun’s condition stayed the same. One day, an old childhood friend came by to visit. His friend visited several times, each time sharing a message of Good News with Arjun. He told him about how God loved him beyond measure. With each visit, Arjun came to know increasingly more about this God, and every day his friend would faithfully pray for him. Slowly, Arjun’s heart changed. Peace, the true peace that he had searched for all his life, flowed into him, until one month later, Arjun gave his life to this God, the God of the Good News, the True Light of the World. Once again, life changed in an instant, and profound love and profound peace filled his soul. Soon after, Arjun witnessed the miracle of God’s complete healing, and he could walk again!

His family rejoiced. How marvelous to see him walk again! But as time went by, their joy turned to anger and shock. You see, they came to realize, that Arjun no longer believed in or practiced their faith. They served him with an ultimatum. Arjun was faced with a terrible choice, a choice between his new-found faith and his family. But in his heart, he knew there really was no choice; he could do nothing but follow the God of the Good News, the One who had saved him and healed him. He trusted that his God would provide for his needs, and although homeless, felt compelled and called to share with others the Good News that he himself received. And the years passed.

Recently, Arjun faced serious financial struggles. His farmland, the only source of revenue for his family, washed away in a landslide and all his crops failed. His wife found work as a maid in a neighboring village and his children had to quit school to look after their home. Arjun’s heart was overcome with sorrow and he would cry out unceasingly for God to save him and his family. Many who knew Arjun, urged him to give up his outreach efforts, but he would not. Instead, he continued to praise God, knowing that God was with him, that He heard him and that He loved him. And he was right.

“Naked I come from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; May the Name of the LORD be praised!” Job 1:21

God answered Arjun’s prayers. Earlier this year, donors from Mission of Mercy Canada stepped in with a monthly stipend to help Arjun and his family meet their basic needs. Today, Arjun continues to praise God and rejoice. His faith has strengthened. His wife has stopped working and is able to look after their home once again, and his children have returned to school.

Arjun works in unreached areas, and this once paralyzed young man, who wondered all those years ago if he would ever feel true peace, travels several miles from village to village sharing the Good News of Hope and True Peace with the poor and needy. His search is over. He found the One he was looking for.
