Ashmita Das

Ashmita is 10 years old and attends year 4 at the Airport school in Kolkata, India. Her teachers say that she is friendly and enjoys skipping rope, listening to stories, and drawing. Ashmita’s favorite subject is Bengali.

Ashmita lives with her family in a brick house with a roof made of tiles. Her father is a fish seller and her mother is a home maker. Although they work hard to support Ashmita, it is very difficult to support the family and her education on the fathers sole income.
